In 1998, ADLT gained the ability to improve lighting products using patented technologies. This knowledge will lead to future improvements in metal halide lighting and our continued market leadership. ADLTs telecommunications unit was formed to apply our extensive experience in developing highly-specialized thin film optical coating for high-technology industries to the field of fiber optic telecommunications. We believe this unit will further the telecommunications market by providing components for the low-loss DWDM optical systems of the future. We can now offer a broad range of products to be used throughout long-haul and metro area DWDM systems, including our five different and diverse coating technologies. Two of these, MicroDyn® sputtering systems and IsoDyn low pressure chemical vapor deposition technology, we combine to realize powerful cost and performance advantages for our optical coatings products: IsoFilter thin film-related products; IsoFiber, a family of turnkey fiber optic cable products incorporating optical coatings; and IsoPower and IsoSphere, a family of collimating micro-optics that take advantage of IsoDyn technology. ADLTs telecommunications unit will focus entirely on the development and expansion of products for the fiber optics communications segment. This unit is further divided into two distinct categories: 1) fibers, micro-optics and filters and 2) the high volume/low cost production of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). Our investments in these unique, proprietary optical coating technology will enable us to build a worldwide, highly profitable business of manufacturing and selling optical passive components for DWDM telecommunications systems. |
